Week 1 and Week 2: Orientation, Theorists, Setting Up Your Class
For this class, we will spend some time discussing our goals for this course. In addition, we will be working hard to learn some new strategies, get to know one another, and discover some new information about how to set up a class and develop a good lesson plan.

1. Based upon what you know from the text, and your own experience, describe some benefits of an integrated curriculum.
2. What level on the continuum of integration are you comfortable with for your own teaching?
3. What is the role of the teacher in the classroom? How do you see yourself?
4. How could you develop an integrated unit? What topics in your field would lend themselves to this idea?
5. Knowing what we know about schemata, how can you incorporate that into a lesson?
6. Are there barriers with ITUs and NCLB? If so, what are they?
